Back in the Loop – Catch Up Over Coffee November 2023

Getting Back in the Loop – Coffee Chats and November Tales

While November typically keeps me on my toes with various commitments, an injury late in October forced me to take it slow for the entire month. Despite the setback, I managed to squeeze in a few adventures, as I always do 🙂

One memorable outing included tagging along for a homestead equipment pickup. Despite my hobbling, I explored two thrift stores during this little excursion. In case you missed it, I shared most of my finds in my recent Thrifty Treasures Thursday Post.

If you’re curious about the rest, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be doing the “12 Days of Christmas” again this year with a Trash to Treasure theme. Stay tuned from December 01 to 12 for more glimpses into my thrifted treasures.

Amidst the slower pace, I caught up on some TV shows, with “Salem” currently holding the spot as one of my favorites.

On the creative front, I wrapped up a few rug-hooking projects. Feeling ambitious, I even designed my own pattern and completed it in one sitting (though it still needs pressing and whip stitching).

The highlight of my month, without a doubt, was a visit to Alaska to see my daughter and grandson. It was my first time experiencing the vast wilderness of Alaska, and the sheer beauty was beyond words. Here are some fun facts about my Alaskan adventure:

  1. The state sport of Alaska is dog mushing, although sadly, no events were scheduled during my visit.
  2. Alaska has more men than women.
  3. No state sales tax – a perk for shoppers.
  4. Seaplanes are a common sight, navigating the Alaskan skies.
  5. Despite the common belief, it’s not 100% dark all winter; I enjoyed an average of 6 hours of daylight during my stay.
  6. The northern lights (aurora borealis) are visible an average of 243 days a year, and they were absolutely stunning.
  7. While I didn’t spot any bears, there were plenty of moose sightings.
  8. Alaska is approximately 50 miles from Russia. If one could drive across the ocean, they could be there in under an hour! (Note: That’s a humorous take on the geographical proximity.)

As November bids adieu, I’m grateful for the moments of calm, the unexpected treasures found in thrift stores, and the unforgettable memories made in the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska. Here’s to embracing the adventures that each month brings!

As always, thanks for stopping by. You can follow me at all these lovely places.
Warmly,
Wanda 💚🕯🎄✂️
