Vintage and Thrift Hunting- Post #7

Welcome back to Vintage and Thrift Hunting this is Post #7. I am so happy you’re here and can’t wait to share with you my latest thrifty and auction finds!

Another of my favorite bloggers is Carlene from Organized Clutter.   Be sure to go check out her blog and I just know if you are a vintage lover you’ll be swooning over the ideas and things she makes with vintage and thrift store purchases.  I am always looking for ideas for odd things, especially some of the items you can find at farm auctions.  I look to Carlene for inspiration.

I hit another auction or two since my last post and want to show you a few of the neat things I bought.  Some I’ll sell, others probably not, lol and I wonder why I feel cramped sometimes.

I swooned over this little elephant teapot when I saw it. I’m not an elephant collector, I think it was that cute little trunk. I saw the exact one on Amazon for $34.95 . I sold this guy for $12.00

Behold a lovely handmade twig basket.  I couldn’t to find out when it was made but it’ definitely not new. I kind of love the fact it is not symmetrical but is hardy enough to be used inside (say for napkins and utensils) or outside as a plant holder.  I am hoping to sell for $20-22

Wouldn’t this strutting rooster be right at home in a farmhouse kitchen? A beautiful hand painted wooden plate full of vibrant rich colors. I love the crackle effect of the paint and the blue continues all over the back of the plate. Selling for $8.00

I was very excited when I bid and won a box of miscellaneous kitchen items to discover so many lovely vintage potato mashers.  One red handle and one green handle have already sold.

Books always seem to sell in lot boxes at auctions and for the most part you can get a box pretty cheap. I found this gem in the box I bought.

“A fondness for reading, properly directed, must be an education in itself.”
― Jane Austen, Mansfield Park
It is a pocket-size version (4 x6) still boasting the original dust jacket. The hard cover is in perfect condition. It would be an awesome gift for a collector. This version was printed in 1955 in Great Britain. I’m asking $25.00

That’s all for this post and I hope you come back next time as I am sure I will have lots more to share with you.

I will put a link below to my selling site if you are interested.
