Pool Noodle Fall Wreath and Free Friday Welcome To Our Home SVG

Crafting an Easy Wreath with a Pool Noodle

If you’re looking to add a touch of homemade charm to your front door, a DIY wreath is a perfect project. Inspired by a clever idea from DIYCandy.com and using my free Friday SVG “Welcome to Our Home,” you can create a beautiful, easy-to-make wreath using a simple pool noodle. Here’s how!

Inspiration found at DIYCandy.com

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Pool Noodle: This will form the base of your wreath.
  • Duct Tape: To secure the ends of the pool noodle together.
  • Fabric or Ribbon: To wrap around the pool noodle for a more polished look.
  • Hot Glue Gun: For attaching decorations.
  • Floral Wire: Optional, for extra security of decorations.
  • Decorative Elements: Faux flowers, greenery, bows, etc.
  • SVG File: “Welcome to Our Home” from awandafulthing.com (see below).
  • Blank or Wood Sign : you can usually find something at the Dollar Tree or Dollarama (may need to be painted. They always have cute little plaques you can use as-is or re-do any way you like. Another way to create a little sign is to buy a plaque from the craft store, paint it, and then add a vinyl saying on the top.
  • Vinyl: To cut the SVG design.
  • Cutting Machine: Like a Cricut or Silhouette.
  • Laser Printer: if you are going to use Reverse Graphic Method and Mod Podge on your painted wood sign

Here is a link to an SVG version with a transparent background – you will need this one if you want to cut the words with a Cricut or Silhouette machine.

Welcome TO OUR HOME TRANSPARENT

If you are going to use the reverse graphic method and mod podge use this version

What is the reverse graphic method you may ask? There are many, many tutorials and YouTube Videos on the internet but here is the down and dirty version. If my instructions are too basic definitely do some googling.

This method is meant to be used on painted wood. After you have downloaded the free graphic above, insert it into a word document and make sure it stayed in reverse. Print (use a laser printer). If you don’t have a laser printer you can print your image at Staples for about $0.25

  • Make sure your paint is dry. Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the printed side of the graphic.
  • Then very carefully place the printed side with the Mod Podge onto your painted wood sign
  • Smooth the air bubbles out of the paper, making sure not to move the graphic
  • Let the Mod Podge dry overnight
  • Mist the graphic lightly with water, you will be able to see the print showing through
  • With a gentle finger, rub the paper off, working lightly at first until you get a feel for the paper coming off
  • You want to rub the paper off but leave the image behind. Don’t rub too hard you could remove the image
  • If some of the paper dries while working, wet it again and If some of the paper is stubborn and you’re afraid to rub harder, simply leave it and sand it off when done
  • Apply a light coat of Mod Podge or sealant if desired

Creating a wreath from a pool noodle is a fun and affordable way to add a personal touch to your home decor. With a bit of creativity and the right materials, you can make a beautiful, welcoming wreath that will delight guests and passersby alike. Happy crafting!
