Day 5 – 12 Days of Christmas 2023 -Trash to Treasure

O Christmas Tree Wall Hanging – Upcycling an Old Picture Frame

The holiday season is upon us, and it’s time to start decorating our homes with festive cheer. If you’re looking for a unique and eco-friendly way to spruce up your space, consider creating a DIY O’ Christmas Tree wall hanging. In this blog post, I’ll guide you through the process of turning an old frame into a beautiful holiday decoration. This project combines creativity, recycling, and a touch of DIY magic.

O Christmas Tree Wall Hanging Materials:

O Christmas Tree Wall Hanging Instructions:

  • Print out the Christmas Tree and the how lovely are they branches templates

  • Trace the tree onto your cardboard.

  • Cut out the tree.

Begin to wrap the cardboard tree in yarn, starting at the top. This will be the most challenging part as the top triangle is small and the yarn will want to keep slipping off the top. After a few wraps, secure the yarn to the backside of your cardboard with hot glue. Glue everything on this back side for a nice clean tree.

To finish the tree, cut the yarn and glue on the back side with hot glue. Place the template in your frame.

  • Place the frame on a flat surface.
  • Cover the back of your tree with hot glue. Glue the tree to the template.

*Note:  you will need the backer board that came with your fram add a few dabs of hot glue to hold the “how lovely are thy branches” template in place. If you prefer not to hang this, get a small art stand and display on a sideboard, fireplace mantel, or end table!

This unique and festive decoration will add a touch of holiday spirit to your home and serve as a beautiful reminder of the joyous season. So, get your craft supplies ready and let your creativity shine as you make this one-of-a-kind holiday wall decor piece.
