Round-up of my 12 Days of Christmas Craft Projects for 2018

From November 12 through December 07 (three times per week), I shared my 12 Days of Christmas craft projects. It was a lot of fun creating those projects. I loved reading your comments, you were all so kind and really encouraging.

My goal was to create a variety of projects that covered lots of different techniques but most importantly I wanted to ensure they were not too time consuming. Every single project could be completed in 30 minutes or less. I hope you found something you’d like to try and learn a few tips and tricks along the way.

This post consists of a round-up of all 12 projects. It was so fun to go back through all the pictures and see them again. It’s also really nice to have all the links in one place. I’d love to know which was your favorite and if you tried (or are going to try) to make any of them.

Day 10 – 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Welcome to Day 10 of my 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Today I bring you another under 30 minute craft idea you can use to package up a small gift and or some edible treats. The one I made is from Cricut Design Space and it is called Cricut Snowflake Treat Box, here is the link.

If you don’t have an electronic cutting machine, I will leave a link to some print and cut files below, so you can still make your own treat gift boxes.

Cricut Design Space features Ready-to-Make projects. These Ready-to- Make projects include everything from home décor to fashion to paper crafting, and even a variety of FREE projects. To make a project, all you need to do is gather your supplies and go.

You can create the Ready-to-Make project by clicking the “Make It” button  which takes you directly to the mat preview screen.  If you want to change the size of your project or change it in any other way you can click on the  “Customize” button – this takes you to the design screen were you can make your adjustments. For this little box I decided to leave it as it was originally designed.  It was so great to have my Cricut Explore Air One do all the cutting for me.

I think these handmade gift/treat boxes would make great Secret Santa gifts and/or neighbour gifts.

As promised here are some links to treat boxes you can print, cut by hand and embellish to your liking. Continue reading Day 10 – 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Day 8 – 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Welcome to Day 8 of my 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Today I bring to you easy to make music sheet gift tags, another under 30 minute idea.

Don’t worry, if you don’t have any music sheets you can download them here.  I printed the music sheets on white paper but realized it was too thin for gift tags so I glued the music sheets to card stock.  I used my Cricut Design space and uploaded an image of a gingerbread man and a Christmas tree and sized them to what I thought would make a nice size gift tag and cut them out with my Cricut die cutting machine.  You don’t need an electronic die cutting machine to make these gift tags. If you have cookie cutters you can trace them on the music sheets or draw your own designs and cut them out with scissors. I used a hole punch to make room for twine.

Cute handmade gift tags, in less than 30 minutes, now that’s a A Wandaful Thing!

It’s been a great deal of fun preparing for this event, and I can’t wait to show you all of the Wandaful Things I’ve been up to. :)

Day 7 – 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Welcome to Day 7 of my 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Today’s easy under 30 minute gift idea is a Seaglass Christmas Tree ornament. I have collected Seaglass for a good number of years and usually display it in dishes scattered around my house.  A dear friend of mine makes wonderful art with some of the Seaglass she has collected and encouraged me to finally use some of mine, other than just in jars and dishes around the house.  LOL as you will see I started out slow.

I only used four pieces of seaglass, some e6000 glue and a ribbon for hanging.  To make one similar to the one I made you need three pieces of green glass that are similar in shape and size and one piece of brown Seaglass. You simply overlap the green pieces and glue them in place and add a brown piece that looks like a trunk on the back of the green pieces at the widest end. I added a piece of red cotton ribbon on the back and a rhinestone for decoration on the front. I didn’t like the fact the e6000 glue looked shiny when it dried against the natural look of the Seaglass so I decided to give the whole thing, both front and back a clear coat of nail polish.

Here is picture before I added the clear coat of nail polish.

So if you have any Seaglass and are wondering what to do with it here is a link to my Wandaful Seaglass Pinterest page where I have pinned lots of ideas, and maybe one of these days, I’ll even decide to try another project.

Have you ever made any Wandaful Things from Seaglass?  If so I’d love to see what they are.

Day 5 – 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Day 5 – 12 Days of Christmas

I promised another cork craft in the 12 Days of Christmas series and I am thrilled to bring you this “Mini Memo Cork Board”. So cute, so fast so easy.

IMG_2288

For each mini memo board you will need:

  • 5 corks
  • 2 pieces of scrap cardboard (I used a granola bar box) cut into 1-inch wide by 3.75-inches long strips
  • hot glue gun or other strong glue
  • ribbon of your choice, cut to at least 8 inches long
  • pair of scissors

The first step is to (hot) glue 5 corks to one of the strips of cardboard, making sure to place any logos facing whatever direction you want.  Be sure to use plenty of hot glue to attach the corks.  The top and bottom cork should both slightly hide the top and bottom of the cardboard.

Next, you will attach the ribbon to the cardboard (refer to picture above). Flip your cork pieces upside down so that the cardboard strip is showing.  Run a line of (hot) glue length-wise down the middle of the cardboard and immediately lay your ribbon onto the glue.  Leave about an inch of ribbon hanging from the bottom of the cardboard and the rest of the ribbon hanging off the top.

Now you’ll form the loop at the top of the piece.  Run another line of hot glue directly over the ribbon starting at the top and run it as far as needed.  Now fold the extra ribbon at the top over, making a loop about an inch or two in length above the cardboard.  Press the loose end into the fresh glue.

Finally, cover the cardboard with hot glue and press the second piece of cardboard over it, sandwiching the ribbon in between the two cardboard pieces.  Cut the bottom end of the ribbon in a slant or a v-cut. Wait for the glue to dry and you are done!

I used one on my fridge hanging if from a magnet hook (top picture) I already had but I think I will attach a magnet on the back so it can sit flatter on the fridge.

I even made one for a friend.

Mini memo cork boards for you and a friend, it’s A Wandaful Thing!

Day 4 – 12 Days of Christmas

Welcome to Day 4 of 12 Days of Christmas.

Today I want to show you how easy it is to make a reusable shopping bag from a t-shirt. You can use an old t-shirt you no longer wear or you can buy a used t-shirt like I did. I found a really cute graphic t-shirt at Value Village.

You simply cut off each sleeve and around the neckline and make small cuts about 2 inches long at the bottom of the t-shirt as evenly as you can. I outlined where I needed to cut with a black marker.

With the t-shirt turned inside out take one cut piece from the front and one from the back and make two knots with each piece pulling as tightly as possible.

When you are done, turn the t-shirt back to the right side, it should now look like this on the bottom.

A reusable shopping bag in less than 5 minutes, now that’s A Wandaful Thing!

I am currently using this bag as my lunch/carry-all to work. I’ve had several nice compliments about it. I can’t think of anyone on my Christmas list that couldn’t use one of these.

It’s been a great deal of fun preparing for this event, and I can’t wait to show you all the Wandaful Things I’ve been up to. :)

Day 3 – 12 Days of Christmas 2018

It’s Day 3 – 12 Days of Christmas 2018

WELCOME!

Today I am featuring a very easy neighbor gift that can be made in minutes.  A mandarin orange wreath.

You will need a bag of mandarins, a roll of cello wrap (I got mine at the Dollarama) some twine or ribbon.

I decided on 8 mandarins for my wreath.  Cut a piece of cello wrap wide enough to wrap around the mandarins and long enough to allow for a tail to tie ribbon at the end.

Use twine in between each mandarin to secure in place and then form into a circle. Use your twine or ribbon to secure the end tails and add a ribbon at the top.

Cute, thoughtful and under 30 minutes.

It’s been a great deal of fun preparing for this event, and I can’t wait to show you what Wandaful Things I’ve been up to. :)
