IKEA Items and Chalk Couture #5 – Give Thanks

In my last post – check that out here, I showed you how I transformed blank IKEA Gurli pillow covers into customized home decor using Chalk Couture ink.

I also wanted to show how versatile and easy it is to make customized items for your home, using products from big box stores.

Today I am showing you the last of my IKEA products I purchased to transform with Chalk Couture products. When I saw this little wooden IKEA crate , I knew it would make a nice display for my kitchen. The  longest  part  of the  whole  project  was  putting  the  crate  together. I forgot to take a picture of the crate before I added the chalk paste.

I only used one transfer but three different pastes. The transfers have a sticky side and a side that you apply the chalk paste or ink on.  I had my tools ready which included my fuzzing cloth,  chalk paste, stir stick and small squeegies to apply the paste.

I also love all the surfaces that Chalk Couture sells and you can check all the products they sell right here on my own Chalk Couture website https://www.chalkcouture.com/awandafulthing

The transfer I used is very versatile and I have already used it on three different surfaces; raw wood, a chalkboard stand and an oil painting that I painted black and then waxed and applied the chalk paste on. The frame on the painting originally was gold so I used chalk paint and a wet rag to distress it and make it look chabby chic. I waxed it with Minwax to protect it.
