Day 1 -12 Days of Christmas 2018

Eek I’m so excited that my 12 Days of Christmas has begun. I usually try to stick to a theme each year and in a way I guess I did as all of these ideas and crafts can be done in under 30 minutes.

I almost feel guilty about how easy this first idea is – as a matter of fact, I ended up making a second cork craft.  You will see that one in another post later in the series.

The first idea are these easy to make cork plant stakes. The hardest part of any cork inspired craft is drinking enough wine to gather the corks – ha ha just kidding – you can buy corks for crafting on-line at Amazon  and other places on-line or at your nearest “bottle your own” liquor depot (but the first way is the most fun).

Gather up your corks, a permanent marker and a small wooden dowel or you can use wooden kabob skewers. Insert dowel into bottom of used cork. If your corks are brand new,  use your permanent marker and place a dot in the middle of one end of your cork and go get that corkscrew and make a hole to fit the dowel. As my dowels were a bit wider than a corkscrew I used a screwdriver to make the hole a bit bigger.

At this point you could use some hot glue or any craft glue to secure the dowel but I didn’t need to as my dowels were a snug fit. Now write or print the name of your plant or herb on the cork and Voila – you are done.  I added the cute thumb tacks as an added touch.

LOL I know you are thinking geez she sure doesn’t know her plants because yes that is a Christmas Cactus not a basil plant…I had to work with what I had for the pictures and these will be gifted to some lucky person.

Seriously, you are done. If you have anyone on your Christmas list that loves herbs, these would be a nice addition to a gift of planted herbs or a start your own herbs kit.

Maybe during the 12 days of Christmas Crafts you will find one that you really like and it inspires you to make it – of course, if you do, I’d love to hear from you.
