DIY Easter Bunny Silhouette Wall Art

I tend to get a lot of inspiration from the internet and of course Pinterest but then I like to put my own spin on things. One such item was this adorable bunny silhouette sign, just in time for Spring and Easter.

It would make a wonderful gift and a great display and addition to your spring and Easter decor. This sign is made from pine board that measures 9 x 12 x .75 , painted white then painted purple after the bunny silhouette stencil was applied.

A burlap bow and pom-pom complete the look.  This bunny silhouette wall art is now ready to display – to hang on the wall I added a sawtooth picture hanger to the back.

You can buy a kit to make your own for $10.00 plus shipping. Contact me @ awandafulthing@gmail.com to place your order.

Included in kit:

1 – 9x 12x .75 pine blank board

1 – Bunny Stencil

1 – Pom Pom (colors vary)

1 – Strip of ½ “ burlap for bow

1 – sawtooth picture hanger

Hot Mess Canvas

Hot Mess Canvases seem to be one of the popular things to do lately. I watched a few videos (I’ll link one below) on how to make one and really liked the idea.

What is a hot mess canvas you ask? Well you paint a canvas, add vinyl, repaint it and peel the vinyl off and Voila, you have a Hot Mess Canvas.

In other words you can create bright and colorful customized wall decor. Not only are they unique and original each time you make one, they are also super easy to create. You can personalize each piece with a fun, creative quote or design, that makes the perfect decor for your home or office and a perfect gift for anyone in your life.

What you will need:

A blank artist canvas – the size is up to you. I got mine at Michaels and it measures 9×12. A variety of acrylic craft paints. Paint brush or sponge brush. A cut out vinyl saying or design (stickers work too).

First thing you need to do is decide on a color palette.  I chose red, pink, white.

Once it is dry completely, add your vinyl saying or design. Looks good like it is right?

Then paint over the entire thing with a color that you want your canvas to be. I chose white as I wanted the colors underneath to be the focus. Here it is totally covered in white paint with the vinyl saying underneath.

The hardest part of this whole process for me was letting the paint dry before peeling back the vinyl.  Was it worth the wait? I think so.

This little saying is my motto for the year. Hot Mess Canvases are easy, quick and customizable.  I think they are A Wandaful Thing!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come back real soon.

Upcycled Thrift Store Napkin Holder

I found this cute wooden heart-shaped napkin holder at my local thrift store last week. A dated wooden piece like this is usually finished in dark stained pine with no sealer. I should have brushed on a coat of Zinsser primer but I didn’t.

I decided to use Rustoleum Chalk Paint in linen white and thankfully one good coat was enough to cover it completely.

Next I decided to use my Cricut to cut out a design in permanent glossy red vinyl for each side.  Both of the files are from  Makers Gonna Learn  and if you haven’t heard of them, I strongly advise you go check out their website and YouTube Videos. I’ve learned so much from this group of wonderful people. I just recently took out a membership and this is my first project using their files (LOVE THEM).

Roundup of My Top 5 Most Popular Posts in 2018

It’s hard to believe that 2018 is so quickly coming to a close. I wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

I took a look back at the year and am doing a quick recap of my top 5 most popular posts in 2018. It seems that my DIY projects were far more popular than my Vintage Item posts. Next year my focus will definitely be on doing more upcycle and DIY projects.

  1. It seems that Day 7 of my 12 Days of Christmas for 2018 was quite popular. It was a seaglass Christmas ornament I made for my daughter.

2. Upcycled Office Wall Art

I did enjoy seeing the transformation on these prints going from kitchen art to nautical wall art. Click the link above to see the “after”.

3. Caramel Cones

These are so delicious and so easy to make – in the microwave 🙂 (originally posted in 2015).  Visit the link  above for a free printable recipe card complete with instructions.

4. Upcycled Thrift Store Finds

I enjoyed doing the three upcycles (click on the link above to see all three). The most popular one of the three was the Ciad Mile Failte wooden sign.

5. Vintage Image Greeting Card Challenge

I was so pleased to see all the wonderful and fabulous ideas for vintage image greeting cards.  Be sure to click on the link above to see more of the cards. Here is a card that my friend and fellow blogger made – she blogs over at Youcanalwaysstartnow.

HAPPY NEW YEAR – Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you back here in 2019.

Round-up of my 12 Days of Christmas Craft Projects for 2018

From November 12 through December 07 (three times per week), I shared my 12 Days of Christmas craft projects. It was a lot of fun creating those projects. I loved reading your comments, you were all so kind and really encouraging.

My goal was to create a variety of projects that covered lots of different techniques but most importantly I wanted to ensure they were not too time consuming. Every single project could be completed in 30 minutes or less. I hope you found something you’d like to try and learn a few tips and tricks along the way.

This post consists of a round-up of all 12 projects. It was so fun to go back through all the pictures and see them again. It’s also really nice to have all the links in one place. I’d love to know which was your favorite and if you tried (or are going to try) to make any of them.
