Cart Confessions: I Went for Coffee… and Found a $12 Thrift Haul

This one started with coffee… and somehow ended with a bag full of inventory.

A new little coffee spot opened up in town, and it just so happens to share a space with a community thrift store, that shares a space with a community day care, all housed under the same roof in a former church – mind boggling???  Naturally, I told myself I was only going for coffee.

(You already know where this is going.)

By the time I left, I had spent $12 total, picked up 12 items to resell, and brought home a couple of small treasures for myself.

How could I not?

☕ The Setup

All clothing was $1.00 per piece, which already feels a bit like a challenge I didn’t ask for—but fully accepted.

And then there were a few vintage pieces mixed in… which always makes things more interesting.

✨ This Trip’s Finds

👚 The $1 Clothing Haul (10

Paid: $1.00 each
Listing Price: $18–$40 (depending on item)
Where It’ll Be Listed: Poshmark

Why They Made the Cart:
At $1 per piece, it becomes less about if and more about why not.

I look for:

  • Good brands
  • Wearable styles
  • Pieces that photograph well

This batch is a mix of everyday staples and a few nicer finds that should list easily and move steadily.

Condition Notes:
All pieces are in good, wearable condition—nothing too fussy, which is exactly what you want at this price point.

🍯 Vintage Made in Japan Beehive Teapot

Paid: Part of the $12 total
Listing Price: $20-$30
Where It’ll Be Listed: Poshmark, Etsy, eBay

Why It Made the Cart:
Anything vintage + “Made in Japan” always gets a second look from me.

The beehive shape is what sold it though—it’s one of those pieces that someone is absolutely going to fall in love with.

🧵 Vintage Sewing Accessory (Keeper)

This one didn’t even make it into the “maybe” pile.

It’s staying. No discussion.

🧡 Vintage Androck Orange Ladle (Keeper)

Bright, retro, and just the right amount of nostalgic. PLUS it matches my aesthetic.

Some things are practical… and also somehow impossible not to buy.

💰 Thrift Trip Breakdown

  • Total Spent: $12.00
  • Items to Resell: 11
  • Keepers: 2
  • Average Cost Per Item: Basically $1 magic

This might be one of my favorite kinds of hauls—low cost, low pressure, and full of potential.

☕ Final Thoughts

There’s something kind of perfect about a thrift store tucked into the same space as a coffee shop.

You go in for one thing, take your time, and end up finding a few unexpected gems along the way.

This wasn’t a big haul, but it’s a good reminder that sometimes the best finds happen when you’re not even trying that hard.

Also, I will absolutely be “just stopping for coffee” there again, why because the thrift store is only open three days per week.

💬 Your Turn

Would you have made it out with just coffee… or are we all the same person here?
