Day 5- A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2020

                  A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2020 – Day 5

Thank you for joining me for my 12 Days of Christmas 2020.

If you missed the previous 4 days- there will be a link at the end of this post.

This year I am going back to basics of why I started my blog and that was to inspire you to make, bake, create and decorate, all on a budget of course.  From now until the end of November, I will share some simple, easy and budget friendly ideas just in time for the holidays.

Day 5:  No Bake Energy Balls

If you are looking for the perfect little snack to help curb your sweet craving, these no bake energy balls provide the perfect mid-day boost for you or any member of your family. Made with just four wholesome and filling ingredients.

Here is what you need:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup natural creamy peanut butter or Peabutter – (if you have an allergy to peanut butter (boo – I do))
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup honey

How to:

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix well until all ingredients are coated.
  • Scoop the mixture using a 1 tablespoon measuring spoon and roll into balls.
  • Refrigerate on lined baking sheet for 1 hour or until firm.
  • Store refrigerated in tightly covered container until ready to eat.

You can take these no bake energy balls up a notch by dipping in melted chocolate.  Once energy bites are dipped in melted chocolate, return to parchment paper and refrigerate for another hour until the chocolate is set. They would make a great hostess gift, great neighbor gifts and of course a healthy snack to leave for Santa.

Easy, no bake energy balls.  It’s AWandafulThing!

Day 4- A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2020

                  A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2020 – Day 4

Thank you for joining me for my 12 Days of Christmas 2020.

If you missed Day 1, 2 &3- there will be a link at the end of this post.

This year I am going back to basics of why I started my blog and that was to inspire you to make, bake, create and decorate, all on a budget of course.  Over the next four weeks I will share some simple, easy and budget friendly ideas just in time for the holidays.

Day 4:  DIY – Holiday Straws

These straws are eye-catching and delightful, and they couldn’t be easier to DIY.  They will add a little extra oomph to any holiday drink.

Simply attach small die-cut holly leaves and berries to a red-and-white paper straw with a dab of hot glue or glue dots.

Supplies needed:

  • red and white paper straws
  • red and green cardstock
  • glue gun or glue dots
  • paper punch, die cuts or Cricut or other die cutting machine

I used my Cricut die cutting machine and a free svg file of holly leaves and berries. I cut mine at 3/4 inch. If you have a paper punch or a die cut of holly berries, simply cut equal amounts of holly and berries and attach with either glue dots or hot glue.

I used glue dots to attach the leaves to the straw, as well as the small cluster of red berries.

Simple, easy, inexpensive DIY Holiday Straws make a great addition to any holiday drink.  It’s AWandafulThing!

Love Day Blog Party

Welcome to my ” Love Day” Blog Party.

love-blog-party-invite

If you didn’t get a chance to partake in my Winter Blog Party on November 27, 2016, I hope you can stop by on February 12th – 2017 to share something about Love Day a.k.a.Valentine’s Day.  Please feel free to post anything that conjures up a feeling of love for you. Be that a good book, a cup of coffee, your dog, your kids, a craft, an idea – well you get the point.

I am looking forward to curling up in front of my computer with a nice big box of my favorite chocolates (dark chocolate sea salted caramels – hey I know you were wondering) and a hot cup of tea (or three) and checking out your posts and blogs. So read the rules and I look forward to partying with you on February 12th.

For those of you who have never participated in a blog party before, here are the rules:

1. Choose your favorite post from your own blog, instragram, twitter or your facebook page. The subject of the post can be anything you like just try to incorporate Love in there somehow 🙂 Post as many as three but only one post at a time and be sure to spend time visiting others who post, but don’t start posting until February 12, 2017.

2. Copy the URL

3. Paste the link in the comment section of this post.

4. Blog posts only please (or something of your own from twitter, instagram, facebook etc.) No Amazon pages, YouTube, Spotify or Etsy promotion – I will delete these and any further links from anyone who ignores this.

5. Enjoy! Relax, pull up a chair and meet new people! Find new blogs, comment on their posts, be polite, courteous and respectful and don’t forget to follow, reblog, tweet, pin and share.

This is a really useful way of discovering new blogs. A good rule to follow is to check out at least two or three other bloggers for every link that you leave.

Please feel free to invite your friends and you can reblog this post!

Hope to see you there!

Winter Blog Party

Welcome to my “here comes Winter” Blog Party.

It’s been awhile since I hosted a blog party or a link up party so I thought it was high time to do so. Now that the season has changed again (here in my part of Canada) meaning Winter is on its way, I thought it appropriate to have a Winter Blog Party.  I am looking forward to curling up in front of my computer with a nice hot cup of tea (or three) and checking out your posts and blogs. So read the rules and I look forward to partying with you on November 27th.

Gourmet Cupcakes versus Rice Krispie Squares

Cupcakes Versus Rice Krispie Squares

photo (19)

I recently had the distinct pleasure of  being invited to attend a birthday celebration for a very special one year old girl.

I never go to an event like this empty handed and offered to do some baking. I got an enthusiastic reply that my baking would be greatly appreciated.  I decided to bake some gourmet chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and make a pan of Rice Krispie squares. When I advised what I was bringing I got a squeal of excitement over the Rice Krispie squares and I actually laughed out loud thinking to myself really?? You are more excited about a non-bake easy to make treat over a delicious “made from scratch” gourmet cupcake.

The picture above was the first batch of test cupcakes – pardon the crumbs, these were the only three that made it out alive  to the picture taking stage…my volunteer taste testers gave the thumbs up.
