IKEA Items and Chalk Couture #4

In my last post – check that out here, I showed you a few more items that I used Chalk Couture on from the 10 items I sourced at IKEA.

I also wanted to show how versatile and easy it is to make customized items for your home, using products from big box stores.

Today I am showing you how I transformed these IKEA Gurli blank cushion covers into custom made cushion covers using another Chalk Couture product. I used black velvet permanent ink.

I used two different transfers on the cushion covers but the technique is exactly the same.  The transfers have a sticky side and a side that you apply the chalk paste or ink on.  I had my tools ready which included my fuzzing cloth,  chalk paste, stir stick and small squeegie to apply the ink.

I made a youtube video when I was making the thankful blessed cushion cover, to watch the technique – check it out here https://youtu.be/GyDeneAD5fII really like how easy it is to use the Chalk Couture transfers on so many household surfaces.

I also love all the surfaces that Chalk Couture sells and you can check all the products they sell right here on my own Chalk Couture website https://www.chalkcouture.com/awandafulthing

Stayed tuned for the next post as I will show you what I did with the IKEA wooden crate.

Weekend Coffee Share – Trip to IKEA for crafting decor items

My dearest friend and fellow blogger Amelia at You Can Always Start Now has turned me onto Weekend Coffee Share. She got turned on to it by Eclectic Ali.

It’s exactly what the title indicates – share something on your mind or something you have done over the past week.

It is a long weekend here in my part of the world, which means three days off in a row.

Most people have gone away for the weekend but I had no plans. I’ve pretty much been on the go every weekend since summer started so I decided this was the weekend to rejuvenate.

I’ve recently become a Designer with Chalk Couture in Canada and am so pleased with the products.  What is Chalk Couture – well, you can check that out here if want to.

Of course, like any company they sell and encourage you to use their products and for the most part I do. However, I like to push limits sometimes and I was curious as to what types of surfaces you can use this chalk paste and ink on.  Off to IKEA I went, so I could have some crafty projects to keep me busy on this long weekend (besides the two books I devoured so far).

For just under $50.00 I found 10 surfaces I could customize. A laundry basket, two blank pillow covers, a wooden crate (assembly required), three fake succulents in one package, one real succulent, a boot mat, and a soap dispenser.

I’ve created something on all of them except the crate – maybe I’ll feel like assembling that tomorrow.

So as I drink my coffee and write my post, I think well now that was fun and WOW 10 personalized items for under 50 bucks.

I’ll be posting pics and details in a soon to be published post.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you back here soon.

Day 10- Handmade Reindeer Cards

Handmade Reindeer Cards

These cards were such fun cards to make. I made two versions of Reindeer cards, these are for those who might already own the Stampin’ UP! Cookie Cutter Christmas polymer stamp set and/or the Cookie Cutter builder punch.

You can buy pre-made base cards and envelopes that are ready to decorate but I chose to cut mine from tan colored card stock.  The most popular card size for greeting cards is known as size A2 which measures 4.25″ x 5.5″- this means you can cut two cards from a standard 8.5″ x 11″ piece of cardstock.

For the first card I decided to use the reindeer stamp and randomly stamp it all over the front of the card. I overlapped two pieces of complimentary but different color card stock close to the bottom of the card and added a cut out reindeer and used dimensionals to add it to the card to make it stand out .

Included in the Stampin’ UP! Cookie Cutter Christmas polymer stamp set is a stamp that says ‘warm heartfelt greetings for a very Merry Christmas’ which I stamped on some tan card stock and cut out with scissors and glued it to the card.

For the second card… Continue reading Day 10- Handmade Reindeer Cards
