                  A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2020 – Day 8

Thank you for joining me for my 12 Days of Christmas 2020.

A link to the previous days will be at the end of this post.

This year I am going back to basics of why I started my blog and that was to inspire you to make, bake, create and decorate, all on a budget of course.  From now until the end of November, I will share some simple, easy and budget friendly ideas just in time for the holidays.

Day  8 : DIY Honey Lavendar Sugar Scrub

Did I have you at honey, lavendar or sugar scrub? While I was making this, I confess, I totally wanted to eat this honey lavender sugar scrub! It’s just so good with the honey, brown sugar, and a bit of soothing lavender too. Inspired by my stash of lavender buds, just screaming to be used, trust me this scrub looks and smells totally edible. The brown sugar and honey give this DIY sugar scrub recipe a bit of extra moisture for your hands or lips.

The ingredients are pretty simple.

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup regular sugar
  • 1/2 cup coarse sea salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp lavender buds

Putting it all together:

In a large bowl, stir together the sugars, salt, and lavender buds. Add in the coconut oil and honey and mix until well blended.

Store in an airtight jar with a lid. This recipe only makes about 1 1/2 cups, so if you plan to give as a gift, I’d double the recipe so you could fill 4-six ounce jars.

You can add your own lovely tag, if giving as a gift. Keep it or gift it, regardless, It’s AWandafulThing!

                  A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2020 – Day 5

Thank you for joining me for my 12 Days of Christmas 2020.

If you missed the previous 4 days- there will be a link at the end of this post.

This year I am going back to basics of why I started my blog and that was to inspire you to make, bake, create and decorate, all on a budget of course.  From now until the end of November, I will share some simple, easy and budget friendly ideas just in time for the holidays.

Day 5:  No Bake Energy Balls

If you are looking for the perfect little snack to help curb your sweet craving, these no bake energy balls provide the perfect mid-day boost for you or any member of your family. Made with just four wholesome and filling ingredients.

Here is what you need:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup natural creamy peanut butter or Peabutter – (if you have an allergy to peanut butter (boo – I do))
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup honey

How to:

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix well until all ingredients are coated.
  • Scoop the mixture using a 1 tablespoon measuring spoon and roll into balls.
  • Refrigerate on lined baking sheet for 1 hour or until firm.
  • Store refrigerated in tightly covered container until ready to eat.

You can take these no bake energy balls up a notch by dipping in melted chocolate.  Once energy bites are dipped in melted chocolate, return to parchment paper and refrigerate for another hour until the chocolate is set. They would make a great hostess gift, great neighbor gifts and of course a healthy snack to leave for Santa.

Easy, no bake energy balls.  It’s AWandafulThing!

18 uses for Honey and Cinnamon

I always receive interesting articles from friends and family and I always take the time to read them because you just never know what you might learn. I am not, in any way saying that I believe all of the “cures” using honey and cinnamon work but I LOVE honey and I LOVE cinnamon, so what the heck…..now if they could only restore my eyesight …sigh!! Enjoy the read because It’s A Wandaful Thing.

Did you know that a mix of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also note honey as very effective medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without side effects which is also a plus. Today’s science says that even though honey is sweet, when it is taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm even diabetic patients. Researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES: Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, put it on toast instead of jelly and jam and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol and could potentially save one from heart attack. Also, even if you have already had an attack studies show you could be kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of cinnamon honey strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as one ages the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and the veins.
