A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 12

                                    A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 12

Welcome to Day 12 the final day of my 12 Days of Christmas 2017.  I am so glad you are here.  If you have been following along for the 12 Days of Christmas 2017 posts you know that the theme of my 12 posts are about either thrifted, gifted or vintage Christmas presents that I am giving this year.

This last gift is an adorable thrifted elf mug that actually jingles (it has a tiny bell inside the bottom). I saved this  gift for today as it was part of a chinese gift exchange I did with my team from work and I wanted it to be a surprise.

I filled it with Lindt and Swiss chocolates and popped it into a gift bag.  It was a big hit, one of the favorite gifts of the gift exchange. It is just so darn cute and it will jingle ever so gently whenever the owner uses it and takes a drink 🙂

The 12 days has come to an end for 2017 and I really enjoyed the challenge of giving 12 thrifted, gifted and vintage gifts.

I think I have started a new tradition and will definitely be giving thrifted, gifted and vintage gifts on other occasions as well as at Christmas. Continue reading A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 12

A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 11

                                    A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 11

Welcome to Day 11 of my 12 Days of Christmas 2017.  I am so glad you are here.  If you have been following along for the 12 Days of Christmas 2017 posts you know that the theme of my 12 posts are about either thrifted, gifted or vintage Christmas presents that I am giving this year.

Today’s gift is a thrifted decorative sleigh filled with new and vintage items for a coffee or tea lover or both.

I found two of these decorative sleighs at a local thrift store for $1.25 (for both).  I am currently using the larger one to hold the TV and DVD remotes on my side table as I am forever misplacing them.  Oops, I digressed.

It would look great filled with Lindt chocolates, maybe the recipient will use it for a candy dish after they consume the tea, coffee and Swiss chocolates.

I found two cute vintage glass tea bag holders and a set of “tea” tongs.  I added a few Keuriq cups and a box of Peppermint tea and filled in the gaps with Swiss chocolate.

I think this is the perfect gift for anyone on your list that enjoys, coffee, tea and chocolate.

It’s been a great deal of fun showing you all the gifts I am giving this year, and I can’t wait to show you the final day tomorrow – be sure to come back for Day 12.

A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 8

                                    A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 8

Welcome to Day 8 of my 12 Days of Christmas 2017.  I am so glad you are here.  If you have been following along for the 12 Days of Christmas 2017 posts you know that the theme of my 12 posts are about either thrifted, gifted or vintage  Christmas presents that I am giving this year.

I have a friend who is crazy for angels, all shapes and sizes, as a matter of fact she just purchased and is displaying a 6ft wire light up angel for her front lawn.  I am going to help her add to her angel collection with this lovely vintage Lenox angel Christmas ball ornament that lights up.  It can be used as a tabletop decoration or hung on the tree.

I had purchased this in July and had tucked it away for her for Christmas.  I didn’t even realize it lit up until I pulled it out to wrap it. I think she is lovely, don’t you?

It’s been a great deal of fun preparing for this event, and I can’t wait to show you what the next Wandaful Thing  is – be sure to come back for Day 9.

A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 6

                                          A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017

Welcome back to A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas, this is Day 6 so we are half way there.

This gift includes vintage items and a bonus delicious recipe.  There is never a shortage of stem or glassware at vintage and thrift stores but often times you cannot find complete sets.  For this gift I wanted a set of four matching glasses and I was delighted when I spied these for $1.00 each.  I do believe they are brandy glasses, they have a beautiful etched wheat pattern.

I found this tray at an estate sale and was immediately drawn to it due to the fact it was wicker, was rectangular and had a handle.  I admit it’s not much to look at but oh the possibilities it holds.  I was going to paint it but I’m holding off for now as I really like the rustic look of it and I think with a few embellishments it will be perfect for delivering this gift.

Check out how some simple paper napkins helped make this tray look festive.

Since I mentioned a recipe earlier, I won’t keep you waiting any longer to find out what I put in those beautiful etched brandy glasses. Oh sooo decadent Peppermint Mousse. The recipe that follows made exactly enough to fill the four glasses, you don’t need to garnish the mousse but I had some mint and some frozen raspberries, so why not?

This is my go-to dessert recipe for the rest of 2017. The recipe is courtesy of doTerra essential oils and can be found here.

Add some bottle brush trees and a bit of greenery to the tray, throw in some spoons (the napkins are already there) and you are ready to deliver a wonderful dessert that includes the dishes. It’s always fun to use something in a different way than it was intended and this gift does exactly that.

A delicious gift in vintage glasses, delivered in a vintage tray – its A Wandafulthing!

A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017 – Day 3

                                          A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2017

I am thrilled to be able to bring you A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas for the 4th year in a row. I’m excited as this year the theme of all of my posts will be about thrifted, gifted (diy) and vintage items as Christmas presents.

Today is Day 3 of my 12 Days of Christmas 2017 and today the gifts are neighbor gifts and in my books homemade gifts are always welcome, especially the edible kind. I roasted two different types and flavours of nuts, honey roasted sesame almonds and sweet & spicy roasted cashews. Links to the recipes will be available further down in this post.

To put the nuts in I used these wonder vintage Improved Gem mason jars. I love vintage mason jars and scored one dozen of the size shown below for $5.00.  They turned out to be the perfect size for the neighbor gifts.

I added some washi tape and ribbon to dress up the jars, then wrapped them in a piece of leftover decomesh and popped them into gift bags that I bought in January this year at Michaels for 75% off.
