Ramblings about Facebook from the Surly Mermaid

It has been quite awhile since I’ve heard from my friend the Surly Mermaid. The expressions expressed are hers and hers alone but I do enjoy providing a forum for her to express herself.

Facebook Status- The Irritation Game

I have been known to delete Facebook “friends” over their stupid Facebook status updates.  I can’t believe all the incessant whining . It gets to be very annoying.

Really, there is no need to post all your perceived medical drama on line because all the world has already figured out that you are a hypochondriac.  Seriously, stop posting all your problems because I am embarrassed for you. There needs to be an eye roll button. Charlie Brown definitely had it right…

Next comes the “links”.  All the stupid “links” looking for “likes”.  I want Facebook to have a “dislike” button.  Oh yeah,  wouldn’t that be awesome but I am sure I would be accused of being a cyber bully because I would use that one  waay too much.

Grocery Bag Storage

Many many years ago, what I’ll refer to as my former life, I had a friend whose grandmother use to fold her grocery bags into small triangles for easy storage. I loved this idea and I had her teach me how to do it.

I have to admit though I didn’t keep it up for very long.

Then came along the reusable bag craze and my collection of plastic bags dwindled to a manageable amount.

When I found myself with too many plastic bags I would donate them to the PKU office at the local hospital.

Now I find myself with a kitty cat and a vintage trinket business where I tend to need and use plastic grocery bags (you can figure out why lol regarding the kitty cat).

I needed one today and when I looked in my cupboard to retrieve a bag I was embarrassed to see the mess I let my bags get into. I’m almost ashamed to show this picture. …

Love the Home You Have

I’m excited to let you know about a new book I received called “Love the Home You Have” from the author of the Inspired Room Blog – Melissa Michaels.

I was fortunate enough to be one of bloggers chosen to receive a free book in exchange for promoting the book to friends and family, in whatever way I chose. So far I have shared the promotion of the book with my FaceBook friends, my family and now here on this blog.

There is a section in the book that it titled “31-Day Love Your Home Challenge” and my friend and fellow blogger Amelia P over at You Can Always Start Now (make sure you go to her blog and check out her post) decided we wanted to do some of these challenges because we believe in the concepts in the book and we do indeed Love the Homes we have.

The first challenge we chose was Reclaim The Dining Room.

Happy Birthday

I love CAKE, it is my favorite dessert and believe me I have eaten (and enjoyed) plenty of cake in my lifetime…since it is my birthday, I thought this would be a great post to talk about cake and share some pictures of cakes made by a very close and dear friend of mine.
