Welcome back to Vintage and Thrift Hunting this is Post #3. I am so happy you’re here and can’t wait to share with you my latest thrifty and auction finds!
Quick recap: Since one of my favorite pastimes is vintage and thrift hunting, I’ve decided to start a regular feature here on the blog about the fun and interesting things I find whether I am scouring thrift stores, garage or tag sales, antique markets or estate auctions.
Even though there is still snow on the ground Auction season has begun and for me so did the fun. Since my last post I’ve been to two auctions and I have to say I found some awesome items.
The item below looks like a salt or pepper shaker but actually it is Avon Vintage milk glass that looks like a salt shaker with a yellow plastic screw on lid. As you can see it is decorated with yellow flowers and orange and yellow butterflies. These were originally sold by Avon filled with perfumed cream (and there is still a little left inside) Available $6.00
Next is a vintage “The Piqua” metal and wood 13 inch butcher paper cutter. It is spring loaded where the paper sits, with a nice overall age and patina. Metal parts have rust and corrosion consistent with age and I think it adds to the rustic look of it. (SOLD)
Who remembers these? I grew up in a household with the one that was mounted to the wall and had a party-line. This is a wonderful collectible, black vintage rotary phone. It still works 🙂 I bet a lot of young folks wouldn’t even know what to do with it, ha ha ha! (SOLD).

I recently posted a challenge to do some Easter Decorating for under $8.00 CDN- I referred to the Youtube challenge I followed that was started by Hillary from My So Called Home.
You can see that post here.
My vignette coast me $1.50 as I only purchased the three Vintage bunny banks at $0.50 a piece. I scoured the house for items that I already had and came up with a few varieties but this first one is my favorite. Here is proof on my price … I remember these fuzzy bunny banks from when I was young.
AND a closer look at what is in the picture.
Here are the other vignette’s I tried that weren’t quite right…lol Continue reading Result from the Eight Dollar Easter Decorating Challenge
I’ve recently enjoyed viewing the $5.00 Goodwill Challenge Spring Decorating 2017 that was started by Hillary from My So Called Home. Here is the playlist to all the YouTubers that took her challenge- check them out, you might get inspired. The playlist from Hillary – My so called home http://bit.ly/2miYBsi
Well that $5.00 US is equal to about $6.69 CDN dollars 😦 and lets face it thrift finds are more plentiful and cheaper in the USA. However, having said that – I am definitely up for the challenge and I’ll be keeping my budget under $10.00 – let’s say at a healthy $8.00
I am putting out the challenge on this blog, my Facebook page and my instagram page hashtag #EasterDecoratingChallenge.
Here is a cute idea from bellalimento
