Day 3: Jingle Bell Candlesticks

WELCOME TO DAY 3 OF MY 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS DECORATING, CRAFT AND GIFT IDEA CHALLENGE.

Simple, easy, elegant and sooooooo inexpensive.

Have you ever just been somewhere (in this case the Dollar Tree) and you see something that is completely plain and simple and an idea pops in your head. That’s how these candlesticks came about.

I was at the Dollar Tree picking up gift bags and tissue and I saw these little jingle bell bracelets.

Not knowing what I’d do with them (wear one, use as a stocking stuffer or perhaps a cat toy) I tossed a few in the cart and thought to myself, oh you’ll find something to use them for later. I walked by a box on the floor that had glass candlesticks sitting in them (they hadn’t even made it to the shelf).

My first thought was – these are those candlesticks people make the Redneck wine glasses with, I should buy some and make Redneck wine glasses for next summer on the patio.

I put them in the cart and put the bracelets on top of them and BOOM – lightbulb….I wondered if the bracelets would fit around the candlestick??? Yep they sure did.

Now when I got home, I thought I was pretty smart, all that and a bag of chips!!! I decided to check on-line and Pinterest to see if anyonelse had done this and OF COURSE they did…..dah!!!

So to all you other crafty folks out there I SALUTE you!!! Well done, pat on the back (insert applause  here).

Even though I wasn’t the first to come up with this, I still think it is A Wandaful Thing!!!

Day 2: Canning Jar Lid Christmas Tree Wall Art

WELCOME TO DAY 2 OF MY 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS DECORATING, CRAFT AND GIFT IDEA Challenge.

photo (13)

I scored these lovely used and somewhat rusty canning jar lids at a local thrift store for 5 cents a piece.  I picked up the picture frame for free at the “Use It or Lose It” event (same place I picked up the vinyl records – re yesterday’s post).

My passion is to reuse or repurpose things in anyway I can.  A ton of my inspiration comes from fellow bloggers (who have fabulous ideas) and of course Pinterest. …

Monthly Challenge for December – DRINK MORE WATER!!!

water11.jpg (640×379)

Ah good ‘ol H2O….

I admit it – I don’t drink nearly enough water everyday and my body reminds me when I don’t – like with headaches, dry flaky skin, lack of energy and yes even occasional constipation(sorry to say it but it’s true).

I try to fool myself into thinking that my 3 cups of tea (which are really bigger than 8oz) are enough water each day – WRONG, so my challenge for the month of December is to drink more water. I’m aiming for 6 glasses a day – a trick I read is to take six  glasses out of the cupboard and as you drink one full glass  of water put away one glass (haha technically I guess I’ll have to take out 7 glasses , as I’ll need one to drink out of). …

30 Day Challenge for November

bucket list

Have you heard of TED? Well I hadn’t until about July of this year when my friend and fellow blogger from You Can Always Start Now told me about it.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design  “Ideas Worth Spreading”. Check out wikipedia for more information.

Being the nosy Nelly that I am naturally I had to go check it out and was instantly hooked. I think the thing that  appealed to me the most was the fact the talks were under 20 minutes and I could listen to them just about anytime/anywhere.

Anyone up for NaNoWriMo ??

Post by my friend and fellow blogger from : You Can Always Start Now
