Time to Change Up the Decor

Christmas is over and Valentine’s and Easter are just around the corner. I have a small standing sign I purchased from Michael’s last fall (4×6) and I change it up for every occasion. I do this because it’s small and doesn’t require a lot of time.

Last year I became part of the very fast, ever evolving, Chalk Couture world and I have been using their products to change up my little sign from Michaels. If you are curious about these products, please visit my chalkcouture site for all the information: Chalkcouture/awandafulthing

Here it is ready for Valentine’s…

Here is what it looked like at Christmas.

I also have a cute framed chalkboard on my office door (at my other job…lol) and I change that one up also. Since it is an awkward shape (as in not very big on height) – I sometimes have to get creative with the way I use my Chalk Couture transfers (luckily they can be cut apart). To hold it on my door I use strong double sided velcro. Sorry – no picture of it on my door….guess I should change that 🙂

Since these two signs were in different locations, I used the same transfer on the sign above at Christmas, and because this chalkboard sign was a bit bigger than my standing sign, I used more parts of the transfer.

The new Chalk Couture Spring/Summer Catalogue will be launching on February 08, 2020 and I’m already dreaming about how I will change up this two signs for Spring.

Day 5: O Christmas Tree Wall Hanging

O Christmas Tree Wall Hanging

While I was searching for the words to the song ‘O Christmas Tree’ I came upon an intriguing post that gave all the instructions for an O Christmas Tree wall hanging that was just a little bit different than simply printing out an image and inserting it into a frame.

It’s adorable, simple and inexpensive to make. Check out Ann’s Entitled Life here for the full instructions. You will need cardstock, a printer, cardboard, green yarn and a picture frame.

I wasn’t sure about the color of my frame until I put the print in it.  I really like the pale frame as it doesn’t distract from the green yarn tree.

I am thinking I might need to make two and give one away at Christmas.

DIY: Turn an old metal tray into a chalkboard message centre

I’ve always had a thing for serving trays. I’ve collected a lot of them over the years and have used them on many occasions.  When I saw this one in a free box at a yard sale I knew instantly what I was going to do with it.

I wanted a chalkboard message board for my recently reorganized office/craft space (more on that in future post).

Trays like these can be found at almost every thrift store so this type of project is very inexpensive to produce. Continue reading DIY: Turn an old metal tray into a chalkboard message centre
