Day 1 -6 Days of Giftspiration: Unique and Thrifty Gift Ideas

Welcome to Day 1 of 6 Days of Giftspiration: Unique and Thrifty Gift Ideas.

In a world where sustainability and creativity go hand in hand, these gifts are not only eco-friendly but also brimming with charm and nostalgia. Whether you’re looking for inspiration to craft your own gifts or simply love the idea of giving something with a bit of history, this series is for you.

We are starting off with what I call “The Honey Sleigh”

This gift is great for the person or persons you know who enjoys honey, tea or a hot drink to which honey would enhance the drink. Let’s take a closer look at what is in this sleigh.

This gift was fairly inexpensive to pull together – let’s break it down:

  • White Tin Sleigh- yard sale $3.00
  • Honey Bear with Honey Stick – thrifted $4.50
  • Honey Tea Towel – thrifted (new not used) $1.00
  • Spoon – thrifted (new not used) $.050
  • Tea Bags – free from my cupboard
  • Honey – purchased $6.99
  • Tree Ornament – thrifted $0.50

Total cost of this gift = $16.50

You could substitute honey sticks for the jar of honey to keep costs down.

How to structure your gift basket or in this case a tin sleigh?

I recommend starting by placing the larger and heavier gift items in the back. Place shorter and smaller items in front, arranging them in a way that all gifts are visible.  You can use tissue paper or shred to help boost height for items that may not be quite as visible. I also used a theme and sought out items that were similar in color, this helps to make your gift feel more high-end and personal. Unique and interesting vessels also make the gift look more elegant and the thought and effort that went into the gift shows.

Kitchen linens can be expensive to buy new. I always have these on my BOLO (Be On The Look Out) list when I am thrifting and if I see them new with the original tag still attached, I usually snap them up.

I chose not to add any wrapping material to this gift sleigh as I plan on keeping most of the items, however, I am planning on gifting the sleigh with some special treats.

I would love it if you would join me on this festive journey as I explore the magic of thrifted, vintage and thoughtfully curated gift ideas.  Not only will these gifts delight your loved ones, but they’ll also inspire you to look at gifting in a whole new way.

Let’s make this holiday season memorable with gifts that have a story to tell and a touch of thrifted elegance.

I hope you come back tomorrow to celebrate the spirit of giving with creativity and sustainability!
