Vintage and Thrift Hunting- Post #10

Welcome back to Vintage and Thrift Hunting this is Post #10. I know its been awhile since my last post but life took a twist and you have to go with it when these things happen. Everything got put on hold, including my addiction for hunting for thrift items…eeek!

Happy to say, I’m back at it and can’t wait to share with you my latest thrifty and auction finds.

The first item I want to show you includes a before and after – I had this cute little jewelry box for quite some time, put it up for sale a couple of times but no interest.  Then I get a message from a friend who had an idea for her work space and was wondering if I had a jewelry box – I sent pictures, she loved it and the rest was all her.

Before

After – in her office – it holds paperclips and binder clips – oh so clever and what a difference some paint can make.

Next up is this very collectible Carlton Milk Bottle.  It was spied at a thrift store – not one of my usual stops but it goes to show, you never know what you might find if you try somewhere new.  Lovely milk glass with vibrant colors. For sale on my FB site for $15.00

I am the world’s worst when it comes to before and after pictures of things I “redo or re-purpose” myself. So there is no before picture 🙁  I loved this little foot stool when I first saw it at a trunk sale and snapped it up pretty quick. The stool is a french provincial style and the legs were stained brown and the fabric on top was very worn and dirty.

Just prior to getting this stool I purchased a big box of fabric at an auction and I knew exactly how I wanted the stool to look. It got a transformation with sleek black milk paint and some black checkered fabric.  The plan is to display and sell at my vintage booth in September. Any suggestions on price??

A dear older soul and friend of mine was cleaning out her garage and asked me if I had any use for this plant stand – can you say START THE CAR?  🙂 – I did offer her some money but she said no and if I didn’t take it – it was destined for the local dump on her next visit – oh no no no. It sure does pay when your friends know to call you first. I am debating whether or not to paint it…thoughts??

She also gave me these adorable plant chairs – they are getting a fresh coat of paint and will be used to display my fall mums when I get a chance to buy some (they are already out for sale in my local area) again no, no, no I am not ready to let go of summer. What color would you paint them?

Who can resist cast iron? Another one of those items I had to take home with me from a thrift store adventure. It think this would look great on a country door, a barn door or even just hung on the wall for decoration.  It is currently on sale at my Vintage Booth for a mere $8.00

Check out this cool Hostess Serving Set from the 1970’s – I don’t remember my parents or grandparents having one of these but this is the second one I’ve come across in the last few months. The other one was teal in color and flew out of my booth. This one is priced at $15.00 – blast from the past – still in original box and I really don’t think it was ever used.

Well that’s all for this post and I hope you come back next time as I am sure I will have lots more to share with you.

Here is the reason I was not posting for a little while – they arrived a bit earlier.  Doing just fine though. I am once again a very happy and proud grandmother.
