Back In The Loop – Catchup Over Coffee June 2023

June Recap: Adventures and Unexpected Twists

June has been a whirlwind of experiences and unexpected turns for me. From casual work at an antique store to rug hooking a beautiful butterfly, this month has been filled with a mix of excitement, challenges, and even a few surprises.

I continued my casual employment at the antique store, diving deeper into the world of historical artifacts and curiosities. The store’s eclectic collection provided me with endless opportunities about delicate porcelain figurines to hand carved crib boards, each item had a tale to tell, and I took pleasure in bonding with each piece (and maybe one or two things followed me home).

In the midst of my busy schedule, I carved out time to indulge in a creative project close to my heart. I decided to create my own butterfly design to rug hook.  I have a “stash” of wool cloth that needs to be cut and I have wanted my own wool cloth cutter since the first day I started to rug hook.  I embarked on a search for a wool cloth cutter. After some diligent hunting, I found the perfect one and made the purchase. Now, with anticipation, I eagerly await its arrival, as it makes its way to me via Canada Post from Ontario. The cutter will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to my rug hooking journey. Once the butterfly is complete and ready to gift to its lucky recipient, I will share more pictures.

June was not without its share of unexpected events. Two trips to the emergency room interrupted my otherwise busy schedule. Although unforeseen, I am grateful for the prompt medical attention that ensured my well-being. One of those visits was particularly memorable, as I had to be transported in an ambulance. While it was an unnerving experience, the paramedics provided exceptional care and reassurance throughout the journey.IV on pole

Amidst the twists and turns, I managed to squeeze in a nostalgic experience by attending Bingo for the first time in years. The thrill of anticipation, the camaraderie among players, and the suspense of waiting for those magical numbers to be called brought back fond memories. It was a delightful evening filled with laughter, friendly competition, but no big wins.

Lastly, I embarked on a physically demanding task of helping to remove fallen trees on the farm. The fallen trees posed a bit of a  challenge, as they fell on and around our camper. Luckily no damage to camper or property (other than the poor tree).

As I reflect on the events of June, I am reminded that life’s journey is unpredictable and full of surprises. From the antique store to the emergency room, from the tranquil art of rug hooking to the exhilaration of Bingo, and from the farm’s fallen trees to the triumph over them, each experience has contributed to my personal growth and resilience. June has truly been a month of diverse adventures that have left an indelible mark on my memories.

I hope you enjoyed the month of June, especially as it brought with it the summer solstice.
