Personal Life Update…and What’s Next.

Welcome to a little life update on recent changes in my life what’s next and more!

I’ve been meaning to write this post for awhile but something else always seemed to need my attention.

I am writing this now because I feel it’s time and I am ready to share a little behind the scenes on what’s been transpiring lately.

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

I didn’t intend to post this today but life just happens that way sometimes. I’m also one of those….that celebrates her BIRTHDAY the entire month as I think we all deserve to celebrate ourselves whenever we can.

OK, Deep breath…here goes.

When I lost my job in the height of COVID it set me on a path, I didn’t know where that path was going but I knew it would lead me where I needed to go.

So with no job or income I sold my house.

I didn’t have a solid plan for after it sold, which is uncharacteristic for me, but I packed up all of my belongings and put them in a storage unit. Due to COVID restrictions, I hadn’t seen my daughter or grandchildren in almost two years so I travelled outside the country and spent almost a full month with them – my heart was full.

Then decided to go “home” as in the place I was born. My mother and sister still live there so it was an easy choice. My inner soul needed this and I knew it was the right place to be.

I took the time at “home” to adjust, to get acquainted or re-acquainted with my old/new surroundings. I did the things that make my soul happy (spending time with family, walking on the beach, swimming, eating lots of seafood, time at the family cabin). I even learned some age old crafting skills, macrame and rug hooking (more about those in future posts).

When money got tight, I took a one year contract job, it wasn’t exactly in my “home town”. So, I literally lived like a gypsy, moving house to house, staying with family and friends. I had no solid place to call my own, none of “my stuff” was with me.

It amazed me how I adjusted and adapted and how “stuff” is just that, stuff. When the desk job contract ended, I knew it was time to head back to the West.

I drove (5000 km) back …and have since rented a bachelorette apartment, and am still in the process of decorating and setting it up from all that great stuff in storage…lol (the only thing I had to buy was a new bed frame) – why a bachelorette, at this point in my life I don’t need anything more.

I gave myself permission to just live and explore who I was. Learning new things and discovering old.

Just KNOW how good this was because it was so SO good!

So, what’s next? I had a lot of time to reflect on that very question and the answer was to listen and follow my heart.

My love of thrifting, selling, making and baking has not waned (I even missed it a little, OK A LOT). I plan to continue on this journey and share the knowledge and insight I gain along the way.

Soon, I’ll be sharing some great information about what to look for when collecting vintage pyrex, what’s popular, how to identify it and what it’s worth. I hope you’ll come back to check that out.

Oh did I mention, I’m working on some “freebies” and I can’t wait to share them with you.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

  1. So nice to hear about your adventures – my life is so boring in comparison to yours! I’m happy that things are going well for you and you’re doing things you love. And you’re right, stuff is not that important. I wish we could have gotten together while you were home but I know you were busy with work and spending time with your family. I hope you’re doing something special today that includes cake!

    1. If you are ever in this neck of the woods, be sure to connect. There was pie lots of pie lol but since I celebrate all month, I am sure there is cake in my future.

    1. Life is a journey for sure and I do enjoy a good road trip – seems like my life is one big road trip but I love it – what’s next? I am looking forward to figuring that out too.
