Day 1 – A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2020

                  A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2019 – Day 1

Eek, I’m so excited that my 12 Days of Christmas has begun. I usually try to stick to a theme each year, but this year I am going back to the basics of why I started my blog and that was to inspire you to make, bake, create and decorate. Over the next four weeks I will share some simple, easy and budget friendly ideas just in time for the holidays.

I am starting off with an adorable, simple paper (cardstock) angel. This cute little gal makes a great tree decoration. You could make a whole bunch and and string them together to make a garland. It is surprisingly elegant looking and simple and easy enough for the kids to help make.  This is all you need to make your own papercraft angel tree decoration.

Scissors or paper cutter, glue stick, yarn, twine or string.

White construction paper or cardstock cut into strips:

  1. For the wings: Two strips of paper 3/4 inch x 6 inches
  2. For the head: One strip 3/4 inch x 4 inches
  3. For the top of the body: One strip 3/4 inch x 7 inches
  4. For the bottom of the body: One strip 3/4 inch x 3 1/2 inch

    Directions:

    1. Place glue on one edge of your 4 inch long strip and glue it into a circle. Set aside

    2.  Make an angel wing by placing some glue on one edge of a 6 inch strip  and glue the other end down to form a teardrop shape. Repeat this for the other wing. Set aside.

    3. To make the angel’s body place glue on both ends of the 7 inch strip and glue them down to each end of the 3.5 inch strip, forming a bell shape (as shown in the pictures below).

    4. Glue the head to the top of the bell shape.

    5. Glue each wing to the side of the bell shape (body of the angel). It doesn’t matter which way you put them on, up, down or facing out – it’s whatever way you want.

    6. Cut a piece of string, yarn or twine and tie it through the head of your angel and your lovely little decoration is ready to be displayed.

I hope you enjoyed this simple, easy, budget and family friendly first day of 12 Days of Christmas 2020 from. A WandafulThing.  Leave me a comment, I’d love to know if you have ever made paper tree decorations.
