Day 3 – 12 Days of Christmas – Pinterest Inspired

A WandafulThing 12 Days of Christmas 2019 – Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of my 12 Days of Christmas 2019. This is my 6th year in a row bringing you 12 Days of Christmas from A Wandaful Thing. Today’s Pinterest inspired idea is a homemade version of one of my childhood favorite instant drink mixes – Nesquik.

You will only need three simple ingredients to make your own homemade version of this instant chocolate milk mix and you probably have these in your pantry; cocoa, sugar and salt. I love vintage mason jars so I used one to mix and store the “Homemade version of Nesquik”. You can add a label like I did and an embellishment like jute twine and ribbon and this would make a great gift.

The measurements are:

1/3 cup Cocoa Powder, 2/3 cup sugar and a pinch of salt. Add it all to your pint jar, screw the lid on tight and shake.  To use, add 1-2 tablespoons to a glass of milk and stir.  **Here’s a tip I tried when mixing it in the glass.  To get the powder to ‘dissolve’ in the milk, first add a small amount of hot tap water. Add in your powder and stir it well. Then add in your milk. This will make a smoother version with no chocolate powder floating to the top.

This was my inspiration, you can find a link to it here.

I tried it and was sipping on my homemade chocolate milk as I was writing this post. I must say it was soooo delicious and brought back good memories.  In my mind it was a Pinterest pass 🙂

It’s been a great deal of fun preparing for this event, and I can’t wait to show you what Wandaful Things I’ve been up to. :)
