Day 12 – 12 Days of Christmas 2018

Welcome to Day 12 and my final day of 12 Days of Christmas 2018

On the 12th day of Christmas I made this adorable Santa’s Underwear Candy Cane Holder, complete with a cute gift tag and a poem that reads “we looked for a stocking, but couldn’t find a spare, so we ended up stuffing Santa’s red underwear”.

 

 

I drew a pattern on a piece of paper (downloadable pdf)  Santa Underwear 2 . I’m definitely not an artist, lol, be sure to use the dashed line as your guide. Cut out the pieces, you’ll need three in total; two long johns (a front and a back) and one flap. You could sew this with a sewing machine or hand stitch it but to save time I decided to use a glue gun . You need to either sew or adhere the front piece to the back piece and then either sew or glue the sides of the flap. When you position the flap on the back of the long johns, make sure it is centered but closer to the bottom.  Make a small horizontal slit under the flap just big enough for the candy cane to slip in. I did this after I glued the pieces together but in hindsight it would have been easier to cut the slit before gluing the pieces together.

 

I embellished the front of the long johns and the black flap with some black craft rhinestones to resemble black buttons.  I cut out a tag using my Cricut Explore Air One. You could easily design and print a tag using pretty much any printer. I put a ribbon on the tag and attached it to the long j0hns with a safety-pin. Don’t forget to add the candy cane.

Using a glue gun definitely made this craft easy and quick. This would be a fun craft to do with your kids. You could make several, they would make fun Secret Santa gifts.

It’s been a great deal of fun preparing all the items for this event.
