Vintage and Thrift Hunting- Post #12

Welcome back to Vintage and Thrift Hunting this is Post #12. I’m not sure where the time goes, it’s obviously been a while since my last post.  I am happy to report that I managed to keep my boot cast on 5 out of 6 weeks and my foot has healed and I’m back to doing all the things I love to do, including vintage hunting and thrifting.

I’m excited to share with you my latest thrifty and vintage finds and to let you know about some of the items that sold from my Vintage Booth.

It seems old hard sided suitcases are still quite popular.  I had a nesting set of three, a small square makeup case and a medium size square one at my booth, all of them sold since my last post.  I sold the nesting set for $40.00, the makeup case for $30.00 and the square one for $20.00 

I sold the green one before I managed to get an individual picture of it, but you can see it here amongst my other booth items.

I love when you go to a garage sale and the person selling says everything is for sale…I literally talked the guy off of this stool.  He said everything was for sale and I asked if it included the stool he was sitting on.  It brought a great grin to his face and after a little bantering back and forth (and a large quantity of other items bought), he let me buy the stool.   I loved the industrial vibe, the worn wooden seat and the splashes of paint….

On a few occasions I have the opportunity to buy interesting wall art – this little number definitely caught my eye and seeing as how I live in a very cold climate in the winter, it made me want to wrap myself in it. Sold for $15.00 

Next up is a Chalkware Head – he has a face only I could love.  It’s officially called a Bossons Head MR. BUMBLE Chalkware Sculpture and it was made in 1969. I almost missed him as he was hanging on the wall right next to the exit of the store.  I stopped and just started to laugh as I think I had the same look on my face earlier that day… He cost me $1.00 and I just can’t part with him, not yet anyway!

The Northwest Territories started issuing bear-shaped plates in 1970, a practice that continues today. This one I do believe was issued for an RV.  It is still in great condition and these plates are highly collectible. It never made it to my booth or on my site, I had a client who was looking for one so I contacted her first and gave her a deal at only $25.00

And last but not least is this Vintage 1960’s era wooden child’s string puppet, sometimes referred to as a “Jumping Jack.” This comical cowboy shows great hand painted detail. When the string is pulled, the cowboy moves his arms & legs up and down like he is jumping or dancing. I delivered him to his new owner today and they were just as thrilled with him a I was when I found him.  Sold for $15.00
