10 Questions

Last month, Amelia from the blog You Can Always Start Now sent me a link to a post she read on the blog Centsational Girl regarding answers to 10 questions that would allow others to know a bit more about her.  In turn she challenged other bloggers to answer 10 questions.  Amelia and I decided to challenge each other. Below are the questions and my answers. Be sure to click over to read Amelia’s answers and you’ll probably discover a little bit more about both of us.

If you are interested in what started it all, here is the link to the Centsational Girl post.

  1. Do you prefer summer or winter?IMG_2346 (1)

I definitely prefer summer. I love when the earth starts to come alive and plants begin to bloom and all the dark and coldness of winter goes away.

We love to BBQ and it’s just so much easier in the summer ,we still BBQ in winter but you can spend time sitting on the patio and eating al fresco. I usually always take my vacation in summer so I get to travel and spend time with my family and my travels usually coincide with lobster season :).

One of my favorite things (as you know if you follow this blog) is to vintage hunt at outdoor antique and estate sales and garage and yard sales and of course these “outdoor” sales only happen in the summer (where I live, anyway).I admit I am not as productive in the summer as far as projects go but I figure that’s what the colder months of winter are for, lol!

You wouldn’t see this for sale in the winter, now would you? LOL (picture taken while touring the Cabot Trail – June 2015)

2. What is on your bucket list that you have done?

Start my own vintage sales business and thus far I LOVE it.

and I have been in a live audience and have seen Dr. Wayne Dyer speak (more on that below).

3. What is your favorite room in your house and why?

This changes from time to time but my favorite room in my house right now is my office/craft/studio area. I have a small loft  area at the top of my stairs which leads into the only bedroom in our house. It took me a long time to figure out how to use this space. I thought it might make a nice big closet, then I thought it would be a great area for putting on my makeup and as a reading/sewing room.

Now that I have been blogging for a while and since I started selling vintage trinkets, treasures and other interesting things, I needed an area that I could go to when I needed to write, create, take pictures and sew (on occasion) instead of always taking over the kitchen table.  It still has some finishing touches to go but I really enjoy being in this space.

4. Share something you have pinned or bookmarked and tell us why you love it?

Click here for the pinterest view. This bench really resonated with me as it was clean and crisp and a wonderful example of repurposing something that might have ended up in the garbage . I have a headboard/footboard that I rescued from the roadside and  I am hoping to turn it into something similar to this. How to build a bench from an old headboard

5. What is your guilty pleasure?

A really cold glass bottle of Coca Cola and dark chocolate, any variety of dark chocolate will do but Breton Brittle is one of my favorites -( a secret family recipe…) and yes, on occasion I do enjoy them at the same time.

6. What is your favorite color and where do you use it?

My favorite color has always been red. Yellow is a close second along with black and white. There is a touch of red in almost every room in my house. I use red mostly as accent colors, in rugs, throw cushions, wall art, mugs and other subtle places. I don’t really think about it, it just seems to work.

7. What is your go to meal?

My go to meal is done in the slow cooker and I call it saucy meatballs. I like to make my own meatballs but you could easily buy frozen and that would work just as well. So three ingredients, a bottle of grape jelly, a bottle of chili sauce and meatballs – a few hours in the slow cooker and you’ve got supper. Sometimes I cook rice or mashed potatoes to go with them and if I have time I’ll make tea biscuits.

8. Is there a book or an author that has resonated with you over your life and why?

Anything written by Dr Wayne Dyer has always resonated with me. He always seems to pop into my life (via a book I pick up or a TV special I turn on) whenever I need him. I actually had the distinct honor to be in one of his audiences when he spoke about Wishes Fulfilled in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

My heart aches as I type this as I my mentor and favorite author passed away yesterday (August 30, 2015) – may he enjoy the next venture that awaits him. I hope he sends us all a sign to let us know what that is 🙂

9. How many items are on your project list and what are the top two you want to finish next or are working on?

I am almost embarrassed to tell you but I have at least 25 ++projects on the list. A great majority of these are painting projects…ugh! The top two to finish before October are Mylo’s cat bed, he is my infamous cat, who loves getting in the way when I am trying to take post pictures. I also want to paint the cabinet we found  at auction that we plan on using in our almost complete bathroom …. a renovation we started but ran out of money and energy, oh yes, these things do happen and yes there are probably 10 projects to finish in that bathroom alone…sigh!

The cabinet purchased at auction, I want to paint it…others say leave it…what do you think??

10. If you could rewind your life by 20 years what piece of advise would you follow?

I would make smarter money choices (ie: start a retirement fund early) and not put off til tomorrow what you can do or start today (like a blog or your own business).

I’d love to see your answers to some of these questions, it would be                    A Wandafulthing to get to know my readers better!!
