Monthly Challenge for December – DRINK MORE WATER!!!

Ah good ‘ol H2O….

I admit it – I don’t drink nearly enough water everyday and my body reminds me when I don’t – like with headaches, dry flaky skin, lack of energy and yes even occasional constipation(sorry to say it but it’s true).

I try to fool myself into thinking that my 3 cups of tea (which are really bigger than 8oz) are enough water each day – WRONG, so my challenge for the month of December is to drink more water. I’m aiming for 6 glasses a day – a trick I read is to take six  glasses out of the cupboard and as you drink one full glass  of water put away one glass (haha technically I guess I’ll have to take out 7 glasses , as I’ll need one to drink out of).

Our bodies are made up of about 60% water, and every system depends on water. So water is important for healthy skin, hair, and nails, as well as controlling body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure.

You can stay fully hydrated throughout the day by drinking water and other fluids, as well as eating foods that are hydrating.

I really am going to try to take my own advice.

What Counts as Water?

Fruits are an excellent source for water. Watermelon is 90% water, so it ranks highest on the list. Oranges, grapefruit, and melons like cantaloupe and honeydew are also strong contenders.

Vegetables, though not as full of water as fruit, can also provide a source of water. Stick with celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers, and Romaine lettuce. OK sorry might not be able to stick to this one but I am all over the fruit!!!

Since I’m not a lover of plain water from the tap, I love to add lemons – but it seems I only do this in the summer – my bad. I have no excuse as lemons might be seasonal, but are always available in the grocery stores…..so since I’m two days away from a successful November Monthly Challenge (bucket list), I am convinced I can do this 🙂

It will be A Wandaful Thing to make this a lifelong habit!!
